The person behind the counter at a local hardware store solves that in about thirty seconds. They've seen the part a thousand times. They know what it goes to, what fails first, and which aisle it lives in. That's not a feature you can add to an app. It's a person who's done it before, standing in front of you, looking at the broken thing in your hand.
There's an old assumption that big-box wins on selection. That hasn't been true for a long time. The independent hardware store has been quietly winning the convenience argument; people just got out of the habit of noticing.
