Cast iron holds heat evenly and carries it long after you pull the pot off the burner, which is exactly why this style of cookware has stuck around for generations.
The red enamel finish means you're not seasoning bare iron here - it goes straight from stovetop to oven to table, and cleans up in the dishwasher when you're done. The trade-off with a solid cast iron build like this is weight: at nearly 16 pounds, it's substantial, and the handles aren't heat resistant, so plan on pot holders when it comes out of the oven.
