Jonathan Green Black Beauty Dense Shade is built for the toughest spot on the property: the shady side of the yard where regular grass seed thins out and gives up. This mixed grass seed blend is formulated for full shade exposure, making it a solid pick for lawns under trees or along shaded fence lines where sunlight is limited most of the day.
The 7-pound bag covers up to 4,200 square feet, sized right for smaller lawns and touch-up jobs rather than whole-property overhauls. It's rated drought tolerant, so once established it holds up through dry stretches, though it's not bred for heat tolerance, so it's best suited to Northern lawns rather than hot Southern summers. Use it for new lawn installs or overseeding an existing shady patch, ideally with a summer application timeline. Packaged and bagged in the USA.
