About Product Overview

Zinsser Gardz is a problem surface sealer, not a stain blocker, and that distinction matters. It's built to soak into and lock down torn drywall paper, sanded joint compound, chalky patches, and other porous or damaged wall surfaces so your topcoat goes on even instead of flashing or peeling. This 5-gallon pail is sized for whole-room jobs or crews working through multiple units, with enough volume to cover roughly 2,250 square feet.

The water-based acrylic formula dries clear with a matte finish, so it won't change wall color or leave a visible sheen line under paint. Recoat time is fast at 3 hours, and cleanup is just soap and water. Made in the USA for indoor use with low odor, it's a practical step for drywall repair work before final paint goes on.
