About Product Overview

Cabot's oil-based semi-transparent stain and sealer combines two steps into one, letting wood grain show through while adding a protective barrier against sun and weather. The alkyd formula soaks into wood fiber rather than sitting on top like a film, which is why it holds up on decks, siding, fences, and other exterior wood surfaces exposed to the elements. This neutral base is tintable, so your dealer can mix it to match the shade you're after rather than settling for a stock color. Built-in UV resistance keeps color from breaking down in direct sunlight, and the water-repellent formula helps shed rain instead of letting it soak in and cause rot or warping. At 5 gallons, one container covers a decent stretch of exterior wood, and with a 24-hour recoat window and 48-hour full cure, you're not waiting long between steps.
