About Product Overview

Drilling a hole over an inch wide usually means your bit's shank outgrows a standard 3/8" chuck. IRWIN solves that here with a 1/2" straight shank on a 1-1/8" bit, so it chucks into any standard 1/2" drill instead of requiring a specialty tool. The body is high speed steel with a black oxide finish, which holds an edge under heat and resists corrosion better than uncoated steel.

With a 6" overall length and 3" of flute, it's built for drilling through thicker stock, whether that's framing lumber, plywood, or sheet metal on the jobsite.
