The Makita BO5031K pairs a 3-amp motor with variable speed control up to 12,000 OPM, giving you the range to knock down material fast or dial back for a fine finish pass. The 1/8" orbit diameter keeps swirl marks to a minimum, which matters when you're prepping a surface for stain or clear coat. Hook-and-loop backing on the 4-13/16" pad makes disc changes quick, and with 8 pad holes lined up to the dust collection system, you're not stopping every few minutes to clear debris off the work.
This is a tool-only unit, but it comes with a carrying case to keep it and your discs organized between jobs. At 6.3 lbs it's light enough for extended overhead or vertical sanding without your arm giving out first. Corded design with an 8-foot cord means no battery to charge or replace, and Makita backs it with a 1-year warranty. Good fit for furniture builders, cabinet shops, and anyone doing regular finish sanding on wood, primer, or filler.
