The Rapid Maul from Collins puts a 4.5-lb forged steel head on a 33-inch fiberglass handle, giving you the weight and reach to split logs without wearing yourself out swinging a full-size axe. The single bit head is built for splitting, not chopping, so the wedge shape drives through grain and knots instead of glancing off. Fiberglass handles absorb shock better than wood and won't dry out, crack, or need refinishing over time, which matters if this tool lives in the garage or gets used through a full winter of firewood prep.
