About Product Overview

The Earthquake MC43 is a front tine cultivator built for gardeners who need to break ground without wrestling a full-size tiller into place. At 10 inches wide and digging up to 8 inches deep, it's sized right for raised beds, tight rows between existing plants, and smaller garden plots where a bigger machine would be overkill.

Power comes from a 43cc 2-cycle Viper engine, gas-powered and CARB compliant so it's legal to run wherever you garden. The front tine setup puts the digging action out ahead of you, giving better control when you're working around borders, fence lines, or established rows. Earthquake backs the MC43 with a 5-year limited parts and labor warranty, which says something about how long they expect this engine and gearbox to hold up under regular seasonal use.

  • 43cc 2-cycle Viper engine, gas-powered
  • Front tine tiller design for close-quarters control
  • Maximum till width: 10 inches
  • Maximum till depth: 8 inches
  • CARB compliant
  • 5-year limited parts and labor warranty

Go ahead. Check.

You're going to open the other tab. Everybody does. We'd rather say so than pretend otherwise — so open it. We'll wait.

When you're over there, check four things before you click buy.

01

Who's actually selling it

The brand name is on the listing. A different company is in the seller field. Those aren't the same thing, and the second one is who you're buying from.

02

Whether the warranty survives

Most manufacturers only honor a warranty when the unit came through an authorized dealer. We're authorized for Earthquake. A third-party marketplace seller usually isn't.

03

Where the box came from

Gray-market stock, returns repackaged as new, and outright fakes move through marketplaces constantly. It all looks identical in the photo. It stops looking identical when it fails.

04

Who you call when it breaks

Ours is a phone number with a person behind it who has held this product. M–F, 6 AM – 5 PM Pacific. (866) 469-8556

We're not always the cheapest.

Sometimes you'll find it for less. Sometimes you'll find it for more. On a lot of brands the number is identical everywhere it's sold legitimately — the manufacturer sets a minimum advertised price and every authorized dealer holds it. When a price sits well under that, it's worth asking why before it's worth celebrating.

Every order helps keep your local hardware store on the corner.

Why we built NHG
You might find it for less locally. Independent retailers often offer competitive pricing — some products are even cheaper in-store than online.
Real expert advice — not search results. Independent hardware staff know their inventory and the local conditions you're working in.
Keep the neighborhood working. Every dollar spent at an independent retailer returns roughly 3x more to your local economy than at a national chain.
