About Product Overview

This 10-pound box of Forney 1/8" welding rod is E7018 low-hydrogen electrode, the classification welders reach for when a clean, strong weld matters more than speed. It runs on AC or DC and lays down a bead with 84,000 psi tensile strength, which is why E7018 shows up so often on structural steel, pressure vessels, and other jobs where the weld has to hold under real stress. The mild steel composition and 100-140 amp range make it a solid match for general fabrication and repair work with a stick welder set up for this rod size. Each 14" rod comes boxed for easier storage and to help keep moisture out before use, and the rod itself is made in the USA. A 10-pound box gives you enough rod to get through a real project without constantly restocking.

Go ahead. Check.

You're going to open the other tab. Everybody does. We'd rather say so than pretend otherwise — so open it. We'll wait.

When you're over there, check four things before you click buy.

01

Who's actually selling it

The brand name is on the listing. A different company is in the seller field. Those aren't the same thing, and the second one is who you're buying from.

02

Whether the warranty survives

Most manufacturers only honor a warranty when the unit came through an authorized dealer. We're authorized for Forney. A third-party marketplace seller usually isn't.

03

Where the box came from

Gray-market stock, returns repackaged as new, and outright fakes move through marketplaces constantly. It all looks identical in the photo. It stops looking identical when it fails.

04

Who you call when it breaks

Ours is a phone number with a person behind it who has held this product. M–F, 6 AM – 5 PM Pacific. (866) 469-8556

We're not always the cheapest.

Sometimes you'll find it for less. Sometimes you'll find it for more. On a lot of brands the number is identical everywhere it's sold legitimately — the manufacturer sets a minimum advertised price and every authorized dealer holds it. When a price sits well under that, it's worth asking why before it's worth celebrating.

Every order helps keep your local hardware store on the corner.

Why we built NHG
You might find it for less locally. Independent retailers often offer competitive pricing — some products are even cheaper in-store than online.
Real expert advice — not search results. Independent hardware staff know their inventory and the local conditions you're working in.
Keep the neighborhood working. Every dollar spent at an independent retailer returns roughly 3x more to your local economy than at a national chain.
