About Product Overview

Grip-Rite's 1-1/2" joist hanger nails are built specifically for the job their name suggests: securing joist hangers, straps, and other structural connectors where a short, thick nail needs to bite hard and stay put. The 9-gauge shank and 5/16" round head give you more holding power in a shorter length than a standard framing nail, which matters when you're working inside the tight confines of a hanger. Hot-dipped galvanized finish means these hold up to outdoor exposure and moisture without rusting out on you, so they're a solid match for deck framing, exterior structural work, and any application where the connector itself calls for galvanized fasteners. This 50-pound box holds 6,250 nails, enough to keep a framing crew stocked through a job without constant reorders.

  • Length: 1-1/2" with 9-gauge shank
  • Head: 5/16" round head, diamond point
  • Finish: Hot-dipped galvanized steel, smooth shank
  • Rated for outdoor and structural use
  • 6,250 nails per 50 lb box
  • Boxed packaging for job-site handling

Go ahead. Check.

You're going to open the other tab. Everybody does. We'd rather say so than pretend otherwise — so open it. We'll wait.

When you're over there, check four things before you click buy.

01

Who's actually selling it

The brand name is on the listing. A different company is in the seller field. Those aren't the same thing, and the second one is who you're buying from.

02

Whether the warranty survives

Most manufacturers only honor a warranty when the unit came through an authorized dealer. We're authorized for Grip-Rite. A third-party marketplace seller usually isn't.

03

Where the box came from

Gray-market stock, returns repackaged as new, and outright fakes move through marketplaces constantly. It all looks identical in the photo. It stops looking identical when it fails.

04

Who you call when it breaks

Ours is a phone number with a person behind it who has held this product. M–F, 6 AM – 5 PM Pacific. (866) 469-8556

We're not always the cheapest.

Sometimes you'll find it for less. Sometimes you'll find it for more. On a lot of brands the number is identical everywhere it's sold legitimately — the manufacturer sets a minimum advertised price and every authorized dealer holds it. When a price sits well under that, it's worth asking why before it's worth celebrating.

Every order helps keep your local hardware store on the corner.

Why we built NHG
You might find it for less locally. Independent retailers often offer competitive pricing — some products are even cheaper in-store than online.
Real expert advice — not search results. Independent hardware staff know their inventory and the local conditions you're working in.
Keep the neighborhood working. Every dollar spent at an independent retailer returns roughly 3x more to your local economy than at a national chain.
