About Product Overview

The Grip-Rite Speed Spike 4-1/2" nail is built for heavy framing work where holding power matters. The ring shank bites into wood fiber and resists pull-out far better than a smooth shank, which is exactly what you want on structural connections, ledgers, and other load-bearing framing joints. At .148" diameter and 4-1/2" long, these have the mass to drive through doubled studs, headers, and thick dimensional lumber without bending.

The diamond point starts the nail cleanly and helps it track straight through dense or knotty stock, while the full round head gives you solid holding surface for the framing hammer or pneumatic gun. Rated for indoor and outdoor use, they hold up on exposed framing as well as interior work. Sold in a 2000-count boxed pack, this is a job-site quantity meant for framing crews and serious builders working through full walls, floors, or decks rather than one-off repairs.

Go ahead. Check.

You're going to open the other tab. Everybody does. We'd rather say so than pretend otherwise — so open it. We'll wait.

When you're over there, check four things before you click buy.

01

Who's actually selling it

The brand name is on the listing. A different company is in the seller field. Those aren't the same thing, and the second one is who you're buying from.

02

Whether the warranty survives

Most manufacturers only honor a warranty when the unit came through an authorized dealer. We're authorized for Grip-Rite. A third-party marketplace seller usually isn't.

03

Where the box came from

Gray-market stock, returns repackaged as new, and outright fakes move through marketplaces constantly. It all looks identical in the photo. It stops looking identical when it fails.

04

Who you call when it breaks

Ours is a phone number with a person behind it who has held this product. M–F, 6 AM – 5 PM Pacific. (866) 469-8556

We're not always the cheapest.

Sometimes you'll find it for less. Sometimes you'll find it for more. On a lot of brands the number is identical everywhere it's sold legitimately — the manufacturer sets a minimum advertised price and every authorized dealer holds it. When a price sits well under that, it's worth asking why before it's worth celebrating.

Every order helps keep your local hardware store on the corner.

Why we built NHG
You might find it for less locally. Independent retailers often offer competitive pricing — some products are even cheaper in-store than online.
Real expert advice — not search results. Independent hardware staff know their inventory and the local conditions you're working in.
Keep the neighborhood working. Every dollar spent at an independent retailer returns roughly 3x more to your local economy than at a national chain.
