These 3/8 x 4 inch carriage bolts from Hillman come hot dipped galvanized, so they hold up to outdoor moisture and weather without rusting through. The domed head sits flush against wood and won't snag or catch, while the square shank underneath bites into the material to keep the bolt from spinning as you tighten the nut. That makes them a solid pick for deck framing, fence rails, and other wood-to-wood or wood-to-metal jobs where you need a clean look on the visible side.
