About Product Overview

The Kwikset SmartCode electronic deadbolt swaps your key ring for a touchpad, letting you lock and unlock the door by punching in a code instead of fumbling for keys. That's a real convenience for households with kids, guests who need temporary access, or anyone tired of digging through pockets at the front door with an armful of groceries. It's built with a metal construction and rated Grade 2, a solid residential security grade for an entry door deadbolt.

The satin nickel finish works with most modern door hardware, and Kwikset still includes two physical keys as backup in case the battery dies or the pad acts up. It ships boxed and ready to install, backed by a 1-year warranty. Good fit for anyone upgrading a front, side, or garage entry door to keyless entry without giving up a traditional key option entirely.

Go ahead. Check.

You're going to open the other tab. Everybody does. We'd rather say so than pretend otherwise — so open it. We'll wait.

When you're over there, check four things before you click buy.

01

Who's actually selling it

The brand name is on the listing. A different company is in the seller field. Those aren't the same thing, and the second one is who you're buying from.

02

Whether the warranty survives

Most manufacturers only honor a warranty when the unit came through an authorized dealer. We're authorized for Kwikset. A third-party marketplace seller usually isn't.

03

Where the box came from

Gray-market stock, returns repackaged as new, and outright fakes move through marketplaces constantly. It all looks identical in the photo. It stops looking identical when it fails.

04

Who you call when it breaks

Ours is a phone number with a person behind it who has held this product. M–F, 6 AM – 5 PM Pacific. (866) 469-8556

We're not always the cheapest.

Sometimes you'll find it for less. Sometimes you'll find it for more. On a lot of brands the number is identical everywhere it's sold legitimately — the manufacturer sets a minimum advertised price and every authorized dealer holds it. When a price sits well under that, it's worth asking why before it's worth celebrating.

Shop Local · Support Independent

Every order helps keep your local hardware store on the corner.

Why we built NHG
You might find it for less locally. Independent retailers often offer competitive pricing — some products are even cheaper in-store than online.
Real expert advice — not search results. Independent hardware staff know their inventory and the local conditions you're working in.
Keep the neighborhood working. Every dollar spent at an independent retailer returns roughly 3x more to your local economy than at a national chain.
