About Product Overview

The Makita KP0800K handles the kind of stock removal jobs where a hand plane just can't keep up - trimming doors, squaring rough lumber, or knocking down high spots before final finishing. A 6.5-amp motor drives the cutter head up to 17,000 RPM, giving the two-blade design enough power to plane through hardwood without bogging down.

At 3-1/4 inches wide, it's sized for door edges, jambs, and general carpentry work rather than wide panel work. Depth of cut goes up to 3/32 inch, and the depth adjustment lets you dial in exactly how much material comes off with each pass, so you can go from aggressive stock removal to a light finishing skim without changing tools.

At 5.7 pounds, it's light enough to control one-handed on vertical cuts like door edges, but has enough heft behind the motor to stay stable across long horizontal passes. It ships as a tool-only kit with a carrying case included, and it's CSA and UL listed.
