About Product Overview

Penofin's Transparent stain in Cedar is built for exterior wood that needs protection without hiding the grain. As a penetrating oil-based formula, it soaks into the wood fibers rather than sitting on top, so you get UV protection and color without the peeling and flaking that surface films eventually suffer. This is a stain only, not a sealer, so it's meant for wood that's already sound and doesn't need a waterproofing barrier.

The 5-gallon container covers 1,500 to 2,000 square feet, making it a practical choice for decks, fences, siding, or other larger outdoor wood surfaces where buying in bulk saves trips back to the store. Apply with a brush, stain pad, or plastic pump sprayer depending on the job size and surface texture. With a 4-hour recoat window, you can move through a multi-coat application in a single day if conditions allow.
