About Product Overview

The narrow 16-inch blade on this Razor-Back drain spade is built for jobs a standard shovel can't reach: cutting clean trenches for drain lines and irrigation pipe, edging tight beds, or digging in spots where a wide blade just won't fit. The steel blade holds up through repeated digging, and the blade step gives you a place to drive the tool into hard or rocky ground with your boot instead of your back. A 29-inch wood handle with a D-handle grip keeps control tight when you're working in a narrow trench, and the round head lets you scoop and clear soil as you go. At 45.25 inches overall and 4.5 pounds, it's light enough to work with all day but sturdy enough for repeated digging in compacted ground.

  • 16" steel blade, 6" wide
  • Blade step for foot leverage when digging
  • 29" wood handle with D-handle grip
  • Round head, Overall length 45.25"
  • Maximum depth 2.13"
  • Weight: 4.5 lbs

Price check

Go ahead. Check.

You're going to open the other tab. Everybody does. We'd rather say so than pretend otherwise — so open it. We'll wait.

When you're over there, check four things before you click buy.

01

Who's actually selling it

The brand name is on the listing. A different company is in the seller field. Those aren't the same thing, and the second one is who you're buying from.

02

Whether the warranty survives

Most manufacturers only honor a warranty when the unit came through an authorized dealer. We're authorized for Razor-Back. A third-party marketplace seller usually isn't.

03

Where the box came from

Gray-market stock, returns repackaged as new, and outright fakes move through marketplaces constantly. It all looks identical in the photo. It stops looking identical when it fails.

04

Who you call when it breaks

Ours is a phone number with a person behind it who has held this product. M–F, 6 AM – 5 PM Pacific. (866) 469-8556

We're not always the cheapest.

Sometimes you'll find it for less. Sometimes you'll find it for more. On a lot of brands the number is identical everywhere it's sold legitimately — the manufacturer sets a minimum advertised price and every authorized dealer holds it. When a price sits well under that, it's worth asking why before it's worth celebrating.

Every order helps keep your local hardware store on the corner.

Why we built NHG
You might find it for less locally. Independent retailers often offer competitive pricing — some products are even cheaper in-store than online.
Real expert advice — not search results. Independent hardware staff know their inventory and the local conditions you're working in.
Keep the neighborhood working. Every dollar spent at an independent retailer returns roughly 3x more to your local economy than at a national chain.
