About Product Overview

Zinsser Cover Stain is the oil-based primer pros reach for when a surface has problems paint alone won't fix - water stains, smoke damage, knots, tannin bleed, or old finishes that keep showing through. The alkyd formula seals and blocks stains in one coat, giving you a clean, uniform base before topcoating.

This 5-gallon container covers up to 2,000 square feet, making it practical for whole-room jobs, cabinets, trim, or exterior surfaces where stain blocking and adhesion matter more than speed. It's tintable, so you can move it closer to your finish color before the topcoat goes on, and it works indoors or out on just about any surface. Recoat in as little as 2 hours, with full cure at 7 days.
