Tip: Joules are consumed over time. A protector that has absorbed years of small spikes may be worn out even though it still passes power. Buy one with a “protected” status light and replace it when the light goes out.
Think in tiers. A lamp and a phone charger don’t need much. A gaming PC, a 65-inch OLED, or a home office full of gear deserves the top tier — the replacement cost of the electronics dwarfs the price difference.
